How to Choose a Good Salon

Do you want to make sure that the salon you choose is going to meet your needs? There are several pointers that you can use to help you select the right slaon for you. When you phone to inquire about availability and hours:

• Are the hours convenient for your schedule?
• Is the range of services available appropriate for your needs?
• Will you be able to schedule with someone who can provide the service you require?
• Is a free consultation available if requested?
• Is the salon license on display?
• Is the state board inspection grade/sanitation displayed?

When you visit the salon:

• Is there an "open door" policy - you are welcome to drop in and see the space?
• Does the salon look and smell fresh and clean?
• Is there an appropriate selection of products offered?
• Are the stylists professional in their presentation?
• Are there tools available such as books, magazines, and computer imaging?

During your consultation, are you provided with a clear understanding of your financial commitment, i.e., how much will it cost in time and money to maintain the style and/or color you request?
