Donna James
Good day to you, my name is Donna James and I am the owner and director of The Salon and Day Spa, which I opened in
1996. Raised in Horse Shoe, North Carolina, in a family of hunters and tobacco farmers, I have been blessed to see parts of
these mountains seldom, if ever, seen. Whether it's Devil's courthouse, Graveyard Fields or Yellow Gap Road, we must always
treasure and nurture where we live. My interests and loves are family, anything beauty, shopping (I Love Shoes!), poetry, my
girlfriends, gardening and getaway weekends with my hubby. I met Grant when I was driving a school bus for West Henderson
High, so yes; we are high school sweethearts. This coming June will mark our 25th Anniversary. We are both natives to the
area, and no matter where we travel, Hendersonville and its people will always be our home. Our daughter Tabatha is 24 and works in the criminal division for Henderson County. Darren is 21 and appears to be
headed towards a criminal justice or psychology career. Our puppies are a 5-year-old boxer (all 72 pounds of him) named Tonka and our newest addition Lucy.
For 27 years, beauty has been my passion and it is truly a joy walking in our doors each morning. A fresh cup of coffee from
The Café, positive energy, a growing business, commercial free satellite radio and
a happy caring staff, I wouldn't dare call it "work". North Carolina Academy of Cosmetic Art was a private cosmetology school
I owned in the 90's; it also had the highest graduation rate in North Carolina. My point? I care, WE care about the quality
of your service. It's not only the health of your hair; it's how it makes you feel. Beauty is a two way street, both inside
and outside. My knowledge and experience also comes with an excitement for education. Being a certified and licensed
teacher for Framesi, an Italian color company, I travel the east-coast providing education for other salons and cosmetology
schools. Our superb staff of stylists is provided with 30 hours of education every year, offsite team building, and
cosmetology shows in the larger cities. If you want to remain on the leading edge, one must always strive for constant self-
improvement. Because of who we are, and who we want to be, we are particular about the caliber of professionals we hire.
Needless to say, we understand our long-term success is only as secure as our staff. Whether it's a massage, a facial, a
pedicure or a complete makeover, please rest assured that you are in the good hands of a licensed professional.
Our goal, from the very beginning, was not to be just another salon, so we strive everyday, with every client, to prove how
we are unique. Not only do we strive to maximize your outer beauty; we want to use our professional skills to help give you
the success and confidence you need to have a prosperous and happy life and career. So whether you want a glass of southern
sweet tea from The Café, or a totally new look for you and your hair, once you
have experienced any of our professionals, our atmosphere, our quality of products and our friendly customer service you'll
know how we distinguish ourselves.
Have a prosperous and fruitful day,
Donna
Good Day all, my name
is Tonka, but sometimes I go by "No!"
I am a 4-year old Boxer and I stand very handsomely at a towering 27" tall, and a very lean 72 lbs. I have brown puppy dog
eyes that will make any one throw treats at my paws, and light brown hair with exquisite white markings - if I do say so
myself. I enjoy getting lots of attention, sharing my king size bed with my owners, taking them for long walks in the park, 2
a.m. cuddling, and I stay fit for the ladies by chasing my two feline housemates. I am KFC certified (Kitchen Floor Cleaner),
a connoisseur of table scraps and all things edible, especially cheese! I am also a licensed PNA - professional napping
assistant. I absolutely love to role-play and pretend to be smart and vicious, but since we're all getting to know each other
in here - I just like to bark so I know I can do more than snore. I have been known to be afraid of balloons and leaf
blowers, and I really don't understand the concept of fetch. My favorite movies are Dr. Doolittle and Milo and Otis.
I adore meeting new people, so if you see me out don't be afraid to speak or exchange a welcome sniff. I'm sure you'll love
me just like everyone else who has had the pleasure!
LUCY ! ......... Yes,
that's right, my name is Lucy ... as in the attention demanding, overly hyper, incessantly affectionate, big-eared, beady-
eyed Lucy! But please, don't misunderstand, I am one irresistably loveable dog. Besides, I kinda feel obligated to be sweet
- I was aimlessly wandering the street one day as a young pup, and some human picked me up and rescued me. I have a lot to be
thankful for at the ripe age of (5) months. But enough of the sappy stuff, here's the deal - I play, I bark, I eat shoes,
dream catchers, and beaded pillows. I steal food, attention, and comfortable sleeping crevices from my canine counterpart,
and occasionally we fight, but he backs down. I mean ... look at me! I can do some serious damage ... ears, lips, male doggie
parts - NO MERCY! But I turn right around and cuddle with my owners and pretend to be innocent; they eat it up! Hey, I'm just
a baby, I 'don't know any better', remember? What it all comes down to though, is that it's a fact that if you met me, you'd
love me too. Even though my cover is blown now. Just don't tell anyone, ok? And don't talk about me ears ... I can hear you!
